Rachael

My baby was born in the Rosie in Nov 2008. I had an induction at 41 weeks (a decision due to underlying health issues that I felt I was thoroughly informed about and involved in).
I have nothing but praise for the Lady Mary and Delivery Unit staff I interacted with before and during the birth of my daughter - I was very pleased with the care and information received.

My only concern was that I had a lot of pain trying to establish breastfeeding - I was told my daughter had a good latch and that all was well. I thought that I was being a "wimp" as I had taken on board that breastfeeding doesn't hurt if done properly. Problems with feeding escalated - it was 10 days before I saw my "usual" community midwife who referred me to the NHS breastfeeding support groups in the area. In the end it was 12 weeks before our issues were resolved.

I appreciate that the Lady Mary staff are very busy and I wasn't a patient in a lot of need but, given I was discharged only 17 hours post-birth and had expressed concerns about feeding, it would have been helpful if someone had taken the time to give me info about the breastfeeding support groups.
